COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia police have arrested a man accused of making a threat toward a screening of a local movie.

Kyle D. Piper, 44, was arrested Tuesday and remained in the Boone County Jail without bond on Wednesday, according to court and jail records. He is charged with second-degree making a terrorist threat.

Piper waived a reading of the charge against him and a judge ordered a bond investigation during a court appearance Wednesday, court records show.

Piper, who worked on a movie that was being screened Oct. 13 at Woodcrest Chapel, allegedly posted threats on social media and said he would show up at the screening to "speak his mind," according to a probable cause statement.

Some people dropped out of the screening and armed security was hired for the event, the statement says.

Another hearing on Piper's bond is scheduled for next Wednesday.
