COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The driver of a vehicle that sped away from a Boone County traffic stop was taken to a hospital after the chase ended in a crash, a Boone County Sheriff's Department spokesman said Tuesday.

The chase began a little after 1 p.m. when a deputy tried to stop a vehicle on Akeman Bridge Road north of Columbia, sheriff's department Sgt. Brian Leer said. The driver, who had multiple arrests warrants, drove away from the deputy, Leer said.

The driver crashed on Wolfe Road -- a dead-end road between Harrisburg and Columbia -- and was taken to a hospital, Leer said. The suspect was conscious, Leer said.

No other details were available Tuesday afternoon.
