TUESDAY UPDATES: Lake Regional moves postponed coronavirus vaccine clinics to Friday
Lake Regional Health System is moving all postponed coronavirus vaccination appointments from Monday and Wednesday to Friday.
Participants will keep their appointment times, and the clinic location is still the former Pier 1 Imports location, 3975 Jr Prewitt Pkwy, Osage Beach, near Lowe’s.
All participants are encouraged to download a form online and fill it out. Filling the form out before the event will help speed the vaccination process.
All participants also should bring a photo id, an insurance card (those with Medicare should bring their red, white and blue Medicare card) and their vaccination card from their first dose.
Truman VA hosting walk-in COVID-19 vaccine clinic Wednesday for eligible veterans
The Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital is hosting a coronavirus vaccination clinic for enrolled, eligible Veterans of any age.
The event is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the hospital.
However, the number of available vaccine doses will be limited, and Veterans are encouraged to call 573-814-6000, extension 54300, to reserve a time in advance.
Vaccinations will be administered until the clinic’s available supply is exhausted.
Officials report the youngest coronavirus-related death in Boone County
Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services is reporting the 74th COVID-19 related death.
This is the fifth death this month and 16 this year. The individual was in the 10-19 age group. This is the youngest person to die from the coronavirus in Boone County. The previous youngest was a resident in the 40-44 age group.
Statewide, there have only been four deaths in the 10-17 age group and 15 deaths in the 10-24 age group.
The county is reporting 30 new COVID-19 cases.
The dashboard is currently reporting 171 active cases.
The county continues to trend down as there has now been 20 straight days of only double-digit case increases. This is the longest number of days of only double-digit increases since Oct. 13.
The county now has a reported total number of COVID-19 cases of 17,174.
The county has reported the total number of cases removed from isolation is 16,929, an increase of 32 from Monday.
Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services dashboard has reported the latest five-day average as 19. This is the lowest reported average since August 5 when it was 17.6.
The dashboard is reporting the positivity rate of 16.1% positivity rate for Feb. 5 through last Thursday.
The health department is reporting the total number of hospitalizations in Boone County is 33.
The number of Boone County residents hospitalized is reported to be 14.
The dashboard is reporting 13 COVID-19 patients in the ICU and 5 patients on ventilators.
The hospital status is currently in 'Green' status. 'Green' status is when hospitals are operating within licensed bed capacity; accepting patient transfers from referring hospitals within standard care operating procedures.
The State of Missouri's coronavirus vaccine dashboard is reporting that 23,344 have received their first dose.
The county has the fifth-largest percentage of people that have received at least one dose of the vaccine with 12.9%.
Saline County has the largest with 15.3% of the population have received the first dose of the vaccine. Montgomery County is second with 14.8%, Cole County is third with 13.7% and Pettis County if fourth with 13%.
State health officials report 400 new COVID-19 cases
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services coronavirus dashboard said 481 new COVID-19 cases were added to the state's pandemic total.
The dashboard said health officials have reported 472,143 COVID-19 positive cases since the pandemic started in March.
It included virus-related deaths went up three to a new pandemic total of 7,458 on Tuesday.
Missouri's seven-day COVID-19 positivity rate was reported at 6.6% -- a decrease of 0.1 from the day before.
State health officials say 886,800 coronavirus vaccine doses have been administered in the state. The dashboard said about 10.5% of the state's population -- 641,376 residents -- have received an initial dose of vaccine.
Hospital officials say 1,309 people are hospitalized in Missouri because of COVID-19. The dashboard included 296 others have also been admitted to ICUs.
Missouri governor cancels coronavirus vaccination clinics because of winter weather
Missouri Gov. Mike Parson announced Monday all upcoming coronavirus mass vaccination clinics have been canceled because of dangerously cold weather.
Similar events scheduled to be held in Osage Beach and Kirksville this past weekend were also canceled because of the frigid temperatures.
“Missouri is experiencing severe winter weather that makes driving dangerous and threatens the health and safety of anyone exposed to the cold. These conditions will also likely delay some vaccine shipments,” Parson said in a news release.
The release said some people will also experience a delay in receiving a second dose of vaccine. It included any delays will not affect regional vaccine allocation.
One of the clinics was going to be held in Mexico for people who received their first dose recently. Audrain County Health Department Director Craig Brace said in a separate release that new CDC guidance says the second dose can be administered anywhere from 21 days up to 42 after receiving the first dose.
"If you were scheduled to receive the vaccine at this event, you will still receive the second dose at an event in the very near future," Brace said.
The release said the health department is working with the Missouri National Guard and other agencies to determine a rescheduled date for the event. Anyone who had a vaccine appointment is asked to speak with their health care provider about any further schedule changes.
