TUESDAY UPDATES: State of Missouri announces sites for 2nd week of coronavirus mass vaccinations

The state of Missouri has announced 27 site locations for week two of the COVID-19 mass vaccination events in partnership with the Missouri National Guard, Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS), and local health care systems.

“We are very pleased with how well the first week of mass vaccinations went, and we greatly appreciate the help of our Missouri National Guard and local partners in this effort,” Governor Parson said. “Although vaccine supply remains limited, we are happy to announce locations for the second week of mass vaccination events so that all eligible Missourians have an opportunity to explore additional avenues in receiving a vaccine.”

The first week of mass vaccination events took place last weekend with nearly 20,000 Missourians receiving an initial COVID-19 vaccine dose.

There will be two Mid-Missouri events.

In Cole County, there will be an event on Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Linc. This event is already full.

In Phelps County, the event will be at Phelps Health Respiratory Screening Station, 1000 W 10th St., Rolla, MO 65401 on Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. while supplies last. You can sign-up for the event here.

Miller County Health Center is reporting one new COVID-19 related death. It is the 51st death in the county since August 4.

The county is reporting 13 active cases, a drop of 18 from last Thursday.

The county also is reporting only six total new cases, bringing the county to 2,390 total cases.

The county has reported 2,326 residents have recovered from the coronavirus.

The county is reporting 1,231 residents have received the coronavirus vaccine and that is 4.8% of the population.

Boone County reports 6th straight day of double-digit COVID-19 cases

Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services is reporting 58 new COVID-19 cases.

The dashboard is currently reporting 461 active cases.

This is the sixth straight day the county has reported only double digit case increases. The last time this occurred was Oct. 26.

The county now has a reported total number of COVID-19 cases of 16,706.

The county has reported the total number of cases removed from isolation is 16,175, an increase of 65 from Monday.

Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services dashboard has reported the latest five-day average as 46. This is the lowest the average has been since Oct. 26 last year when it was 43.

The dashboard is reporting the positivity rate of 25.2% positivity rate for Jan. 22 through last Thursday.

The health department is reporting the total number of hospitalizations in Boone County is 63.

The number of Boone County residents hospitalized is reported to be 15.

The dashboard is reporting 26 COVID-19 patients in the ICU and 16 patients on ventilators.

The hospital status remains in the 'green' zone. 'Green status' says that hospitals are "Operating within licensed bed capacity; accepting patient transfers from referring hospitals within standard care operating procedures."

According to the Missouri Vaccine Dashboard, Boone County has the largest number of people vaccinated against COVID-19 with 6,688 having received their second dose.

The dashboard also reports that 16,292 have received their first dose.

The county has the second largest percentage of people that have received at least one dose of the vaccine with 9%. Cole County has the largest with 9.6% of the population have received the first dose of the vaccine.

Missouri surpasses 7,000 coronavirus deaths

Missouri surpassed 7,000 total COVID-19 deaths on Wednesday.

According to the state health department's coronavirus dashboard, 7,088 virus-related deaths have been reported since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The department added 340 deaths to the dashboard overnight -- 339 of which came from the department's weekly check of death certificates. A release from the health department said 11 deaths happened in November, 190 were from December and 138 came from people who died in January.

Tuesday's death certificate report was the largest since the department started the weekly checks in September.

Dashboard data said St. Louis County leads the state for deaths reported because of the pandemic with 1,511. Kansas City was second in the state with 454 virus-related deaths and Greene County was third with 388.

Cole County health officials reported four virus-related deaths bringing the county's pandemic total up to 101.

For the second day in a row, new COVID-19 cases reported on the dashboard were fewer than 1,000. According to health department data, total coronavirus positive cases were up to 460,487 -- an increase of 890.

Missouri's seven-day positivity rate fell again. It was reported at 9.1% -- slightly lower from the day before.

State hospital officials said COVID-19 hospitalizations and ICU admissions were at their lowest levels in months. The dashboard reported 1,778 were hospitalized because of the coronavirus -- the lowest number of hospitalizations since early November. Virus-related ICU stays were reported at 401 on Tuesday -- the lowest since October.

The state's coronavirus vaccination dashboard said 530,485 vaccine doses have been administered in Missouri -- an increase of 14,635 from the day before. The dashboard included 409,618 state residents have received at least one dose of vaccine.
