Columbia to receive $3.2 million for railway infrastructure
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The City of Columbia will receive a $3.2 million grant from Economic Development Administration for railway infrastructure support, according to a Tuesday press release from the EDA.
The grant will help expand the commercial freight corridor in the area, the release says.
There will also be $800,000 in local funds, the release says. The project is expected to create 25 jobs and generate $23 million in private investments, according to the release.
“This project will expand and improve the rail corridor to allow for heavier, more cost-efficient freight loads, creating jobs and spurring private investment in the region.” Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy and External Affairs Cristina Killingsworth said in the release.
