Tree down causes street to close in central Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A large tree on Friday evening blocked off a road in central Columbia.

A tree appeared to have fallen over on Linn Street near Oak Street.

Boone County Joint Communications stated on its social media that the road is closed and recommends residents to take alternate routes.

Storms came through Columbia on Friday evening. ABC 17 News has reached out to the Columbia Fire Department for a cause for the fallen tree. Fire officials at the scene said a limb broke off, but there's no determination of why the tree fell.

Fire dispatch logs indicate there was an electrical hazard reported at 7:55 p.m.
