COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A City of Columbia pool closed early Thursday after a "chemical imbalance" was detected in the water, the second time the pool has had such a problem in a few days.

Albert-Oakland Family Aquatic Center closed at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, according to the Columbia Parks and Recreation Department's Facebook page.

The pool opened last weekend but had to close Sunday because of "a mechanical failure resulting in a chemical imbalance," the department said Sunday. The pool reopened the next day.

The issue that caused Thursday's closure appeared to be related to last weekend's problem.

"This is due to a continuing mechanical problem resulting in a chemical imbalance in the water," the department posted. The city hopes to reopen the pool Friday.
