No one hurt after central Columbia house fire

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Columbia Fire Department is investigating after a fire broke out at a home in the 700 block of Mikel Street around 5:30 a.m. Monday.

CFD Divison Chief Eric Caszatt said crews were sent to a smoke investigation. Dispatchers got another call while firefighters were en route by a passerby saying it was a house fire.

Caszatt said the department responded with six trucks and 17 firefighters.

Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke and fire coming from the home and were able to get the flames under control quickly.

No one was home when the fire took place and the cause is still under investigation.
