Columbia Regional Airport to add flight next month

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

American Airlines will add another departing flight from Columbia Regional Airport to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport next month, the airport said Friday.

The new flight will start April 6 and leave at 11:59 a.m. daily, for a total of five daily outbound flights, the airport said in a news release. Three flights go to Dallas and two to Chicago O'Hare International Airport. The addition comes after both United Airlines and American said earlier this year they would reduce flights out of the airport.

The airport is nearing the completion of a new terminal, with improvements in the works to runways, as well.

"Columbia Airport is undergoing a period of significant change and improvement," Airport Manager Mike Parks said in a news release. "We are excited to increase the number of flights to and from COU. The City of Columbia will continue to create an environment where businesses such as American Airlines can thrive and find success in this region."

The new terminal is set to open in late summer.

Airport passenger counts show numbers were rebounding from the previous year to end 2021. Data for 2022 was not yet available Friday on the airport website.
