COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Boone Electric Cooperative is busy restoring power after outages hit members north and east of Columbia.

The utility's online outage map showed more than 2,000 members without power Wednesday afternoon in outages that include the Shaw, Stephens and Prathersville areas. More than 4,600 lost power at the outage's peak.

The power was back on before 4 p.m.

A Boone Electric spokeswoman said the utility lost power from two substations after a bulldozer knocked down a tree, which then hit a transmission line going into the substations.
