Man, woman, children escape fiery crash after shooting

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Police in St. Louis say a man, woman and two children managed to escape a fire that engulfed their car early Monday morning after the man and woman were shot inside the vehicle and subsequently crashed. Television station KMOV reports that the events unfolded around 1:30 a.m. on a street in north St. Louis, when someone opened fire on the car. Police say the woman was shot in the head and the man was shot in the arm. The driver then lost control of the car and crashed into a tree. Police say everyone managed to get out of the car as flames erupted from it. The man and woman were taken to a hospital.
