Yemen’s Houthi rebels launch drone boat that hits ship in Red Sea as missile strikes another

Associated Press

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Yemen’s Houthi rebels have launched an explosive-loaded drone that crashed into one ship in the Red Sea and a missile that exploded against another. The attacks Tuesday are the rebels’ first assaults on commercial shipping in weeks as the Israel-Hamas war threatens to become a regional conflict. The first attack saw missile fire miss before a drone boat exploded against it. Another attack targeted a separate ship with a missile, causing damage. That’s according to the multinational Joint Maritime Information Center and the private security firm Ambrey. The Houthis threatened “escalating military operations” targeting Israel on Monday after they apparently shot down a U.S. military drone flying over Yemen.
