Columbia police respond to area of I-70 and Highway 63 after woman says she was shot at

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Columbia Police Department responded to the area of I-70 and Highway 63 for a report of shots fired Sunday morning.

According to a press release from the department, officers responded at 10:30 a.m. and spoke with a woman who claimed she, and a juvenile were shot at while driving on Interstate 70. Witnesses described the suspect as a Black male with short afro-style hair in a black SUV, according to the release.

CPD spokeswoman Jenny Hopper told ABC 17 News that officers on scene found evidence shots were fired.

The woman suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The juvenile was not injured.

Hopper said the woman's injuries were not from a gunshot wound.

The investigation is on-going.
