Man dies, father injured in suburban St. Louis house fire

FERGUSON, Mo. (AP) — A man has died and his elderly father was injured in a house fire in suburban St. Louis. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that firefighters were called to the Ferguson home Saturday afternoon by the man’s mother, who escaped the burning home and called 911 from a neighbor’s house. Arriving firefighters pulled the father and son from the burning structure, along with the family dog. The son, who was described as being in his 50s or 60s, died at a hospital later Saturday night. The father has been listed in stable condition. Investigators say the fire was caused by a space heater placed under the home’s outdoor wooden deck, which had been converted into a living area for the dog.
