Two people were hurt following a rollover crash on Interstate 70 east of Columbia on Wednesday night.

The crash happened around 8:45 p.m. in the eastbound lanes at the 135-mile marker, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said a car driven by Jared E. Thompson, 26, of Columbia, flipped over several times after he drove off of the side of I-70.

The car blocked both lanes of Interstate 70 Drive Southwest after it came to a rest. Troopers said Thompson and his passenger, Kerena A. Dieckmann, 26, of Columbia, were both thrown from the car during the crash.

Troopers arrested Thompson for DWI that resulted in serious physical injury and other traffic offenses.

According to the highway patrol, an ambulance took Thompson and Dieckmann to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries.

An MU Health Care spokesman told ABC 17 News Friday morning Thompson is in critical condition and Dieckmann is in serious condition.

Troopers said Thompson and Dieckmann were not wearing seat belts.
