COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Taking a look at unemployment rates across Missouri, the state has reported a significant increase in jobless claims.

More than 8,600 claims were filed during the week ending on May 29th, which is nearly 2,800 more than reports from the week prior.

This is also the first increase reported in two months.

Comparing this to nationwide unemployment, US jobless claims fell to a pandemic low according to the Department of Labor data.

Data shows that 385,000 Americans have filed for first-time unemployment benefits, which is a drop by 20,000 from the previous week.
