Two charged in Phelps County homicide case

ST. JAMES, Mo. (KMIZ)

A man and woman are now charged in connection with a St. James homicide investigation.

According to court documents, 20-year-old Josue Martinez is seen stabbing the victim, Donald Wethy, 14 times at a motel in St. James on surveillance video.

Minutes prior to the stabbing, video captured Martinez talking with his girlfriend
29-year-old Kimberly Riston and getting what appears to be a pocket knife from Riston's pants pocket according to a probable cause statement.

Police report they recovered the knife they believe to the murder weapon.

The duo were arrested in Maries county.

Maries County deputies arrested the two near the Rolla Airport.

They were later released, to Phelps County law enforcement.

Both Martinez and Riston are charged with first degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action, first degree robbery and first degree tampering with a motor vehicle.

No bond was issued for the duo.
