One injured after shooting near Cooper’s Landing

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Boone County Sheriff' s Department confirmed one person was shot in the area of Coopers Landing late Friday night.

According to Brian Leer, a spokesperson for the sheriff's department, Boone County Deputies were dispatched to investigate a report of a shooting around 11 p.m.

The Boone County Joint Communications got information about someone walking into a hospital who said he was shot accidentally while at Cooper's Landing.

The victim reported he and a friend were shooting a gun when the friend accidentally shot him.

A witness to the shooting told officials the victim was shot while with a group of people, but the witness could not say which person shot the gun.

The victim was conscious and didn't have any life threatening injuries.

Officials say the investigation is ongoing.
