Murder trial to begin for 2017 Columbia shooting suspect

A Columbia man will begin fighting charges of murder, armed criminal action and unlawful weapon use on Tuesday.

Denico Sanchez Crawley is scheduled to go before Boone County Judge Kevin Crane at 9 a.m.

Crawley was charged in August 2017 for a shooting near the Highway 63 connector.

Court documents said Crawley pulled up alongside the victims’ vehicle on June 26 while merging onto I-70 from the Business Loop.

Victims said Crawley shot several times toward the driver’s side of their vehicle and both victims were hit with multiple bullets.

One of the victims, Quenten Hurt, 25, died July 13.

ABC 17 News will provide coverage of Crawley’s trial.
