UPDATE: Victim who died in triple shooting in east Columbia identified

UPDATE 7/17: Police confirmed the victim who died after a triple shooting in east Columbia Saturday morning is Jamar Lamont Hicks, 26, of Boone County.

Police have not released the names of the two other victims, but confirmed their injuries are non-life-threatening.

Friends and family of Hicks plan to hold a vigil at JT’s Barbershop at 8 p.m. Monday.

UPDATE 10 a.m.: Columbia police confirm one person is dead and two others are injured after a triple drive-by shooting.

At least one person is still at large. Police said they have no description of whoever is responsible for the shooting and are not releasing the description of the vehicle involved at this time.

Police said they received a panic alarm set off on the 2900 block of east Broadway, near the Break Time, around 3 a.m. The person who notified police said a woman who had been shot was inside the Break Time.

When police arrived, they found two other gunshot victims; one man near a car involved in the shooting, and another man in a different, but nearby, location.

All three victims were transported to a hospital. One of the male victims was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.

The extent of the other two gunshot victims’ injuries are unknown at this time.

Police said after a preliminary investigation, someone drove up to the victims’ car and began shooting. Police found several gun shell casings throughout the intersection.

At last check, police did not find any other property damaged by gunfire, other than the victims’ car.

The intersection of Trimble and Brickton roads was closed from at least 3 a.m. until 7:15 a.m. The area has been reopened.

Police are continuing to investigate the shooting.

As soon as more information is available, such as the condition of the two victims and the identity of whoever is responsible for the gunfire, this story will be updated.

ORIGINAL: Columbia police are investigating a reported shooting at the Break Time on East Broadway.

ABC 17 News heard reports that at least one person had been shot.

Our crews at the scene said the entire intersection of Trimble and Brickton roads, in front of the Break Time, are closed off with police tape. They said police are searching the buildings nearby with flashlights, possibly looking for shell casings.

ABC 17 News is working to find out how many people are hurt as well as the extent of their injuries.
