Assault suspect posts on Facebook while he’s on the run

The man wanted for a weekend assault in Columbia turned himself into police, but only after posting about it on Facebook.

Police say the assault happened on Lawnridge Court Sunday night. Quincy Avant, 40, reportedly beat his neighbor with a golf club, causing his victim to go into a coma.

Avant first posted on Facebook that he was on the run from police, then told his Facebook friends a few days later that he was going to turn himself in.

Residents on the street say violence in the neighborhood is a normal occurrence.

Avant is now awaiting charges in the Boone County Jail.
