JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Workers with Amtrak, Jefferson City and state offices are coming together to open a temporary station.

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources is providing a trailer for the city to use as a temporary train station. A Jefferson City Department of Public Works spokeswoman said the city hopes to have the temporary station open in the next two or three weeks.

The train station inside the Union Hotel has been closed during a structural inspection of the historic site. The new station can be found in parking lot No. 3 adjacent to the Lohman Building at the Jefferson City landing. The Office of Administration donated the parking space for the temporary station.
