Tracking a few storms tonight, dangerous heat wave this week

TONIGHT: Scattered showers and storms linger overnight, with mild temperatures in the 70s.

TOMORROW: Brutally hot and humid, with highs soaring to the 90s, and the heat index near 100 degrees. Expect sunny skies and a steady southwest breeze at 5 to 15 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph.

EXTENDED: A dangerous heat wave is expected next week, with a heat index between 100 and 105 degrees throughout the workweek. An ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day has been issued from Tuesday through Thursday, where the heat index may exceed 105 in some spots. Triple-digit heat may stretch through the Fourth of July holiday, with little to no rain in sight through next weekend.
