Mizzou softball will host its third NCAA Regional in four years, earns No. 7 seed

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ) 

The No. 7-seeded Tiger softball team will, once again, host an NCAA Regional at the Mizzou Softball Stadium.

Head coach Larissa Anderson and company will host their third NCAA Regional in four years. The team will also look to advance past weekend one and host its first NCAA Super Regional since 2021, as a top-eight seed in the field.

Omaha, Indiana and Washington will all compete in the Columbia Regional on May 17-19 on Mizzou’s campus. 

MU learned its fate on Sunday at a watch party held at Faurot Field, just after returning for from its appearance in the SEC Tournament Championship game on Saturday in Alabama. The Tigers did not come out with a win in the title game, but will now hunt for the ultimate goal: a trip to Oklahoma City for the Women’s College World Series. 

Mizzou will come into its NCAA Regional 43-15 overall through the regular season and conference tournament and 13-11 in SEC action.

Anderson’s teams have made a Regional for 17-straight seasons now, as the group traveled to Norman, Oklahoma for Regional action in 2023. 

Mizzou will kickoff the Columbia Regional with a matchup against Omaha at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 17.
