Three Tigers named to SEC All-Tournament Team
AUBURN, Ala. (KMIZ)
Although Mizzou Softball fell one win short of capturing its first SEC Championship in program history on Saturday, the Tigers were still well-represented on this season's SEC All-Tournament Team. The league announced Jenna Laird, Maddie Gallagher and Laurin Krings were honored as SEC All-Tournament Team selections.
Laird and Gallagher both had great performances at the plate in the tournament. MU's senior shortstop posted six hits in her 14 at-bats, including one double and one RBI in Mizzou's four tournament games. The Tigers' senior second baseman ended the tournament 3-for-12 at the dish and recorded one home run, one double and three RBI's. Gallagher also hit a walk-off sacrifice fly in the SEC Semifinals against LSU to send MU to the title game.
In the circle, Krings kept opposing hitters off-balance all week. The senior starting pitcher appeared in three of Mizzou's four tournament games, tossing 12.2 total innings and allowing just 10 hits and three earned runs across all her appearances. She also added three strikeouts.
MU finished the SEC Tournament in second place after finishing the event with a 3-1 record. The Tigers will learn their NCAA Tournament fate on Sunday when the selection show begins at 6 p.m.
