Mizzou softball walks off LSU to punch ticket to SEC Tournament Championship

AUBURN, Ala. (KMIZ)

The No. 5 seeded Mizzou softball punched its ticket to the SEC Tournament Championship in walk-off fashion on Friday night. The Tigers beat LSU 2-1 in eight innings to capture the semifinal win.

Maddie Gallagher played hero at the dish for MU. The senior hit a solo home run in the fifth inning to give her team a one-run lead. She then hit the game-winning sacrifice fly to bring home shortstop Jenna Laird in the bottom of the eighth inning.

In the circle, sophomore Taylor Pannell earned the win, as the third Tiger pitcher to go in against LSU. She threw for 1.1 innings and didn't allow any runs or hits.

Laurin Krings started for head coach Larissa Anderson, on Friday. The senior stayed in for 4.2 inning and fanned two batters, however, she did allow the one run that tied the game.

Up next - Mizzou will play the winner of the semifinal game between Texas A&M and Florida. The championship game is set to start at 4 p.m. CT on Saturday, May 11.
