Mizzou held to one hit, unable to complete series sweep over Florida

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

While No. 15 Mizzou Softball did finish its latest three-game set with an SEC series win, Larissa Anderson's crew fell short of capturing the sweep. Florida's Keagan Rothrock tossed a one-hit, complete game in the circle, leading to a 3-1 loss for the Tigers at Mizzou Softball Stadium.

Mizzou is still searching for the team's first SEC win on a Sunday this season, falling in the finale of all five of their conference weekend series.

Despite Sunday's loss, Mizzou Softball set a new weekend attendance record for this series with the Gators. Across all three games, 9,565 fans were in attendance at Mizzou Softball Stadium.

The Tigers faced an early deficit after Florida's Ava Brown hit a two-run home run to put the Gators ahead 2-0 in the second inning. The Gators added a third run on an RBI single from Jocelyn Erickson in the fifth inning to extend their advantage to three runs. Mizzou got one run back on a fielder's choice in the home half of that frame but were held hitless the rest of the afternoon.

Maddie Gallagher's single in the fourth inning was the only hit of the game for the Tigers. Florida finished the contest with seven hits, including two doubles and a home run.

Laurin Krings started in the circle and was given the loss, giving up three runs on seven hits while striking out three batters over less than five innings of work.

Marissa McCann held Florida without a hit in relief of Krings. The true freshman only allowed one hit and one walk over more than seven innings in the circle in this three-game series.

Up next - Mizzou closes out its four-game homestand with a midweek matchup against SIUE on April 17. First pitch for Wednesday's game is scheduled for 5 p.m.
