Luetkemeyer warns of scammers impersonating him online
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-Missouri) on Monday warned of scammers impersonating him on Facebook messenger.
Luetkemeyer shared that message, along with screenshots of a fake profile impersonating him on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. The screenshots appear to show the profile trying to get residents to join a "program."
Luetkemeyer recommended that those who have been contacted by the fake profile to report it online to the Federal Trade Commission.
Luetkemeyer represents Missouri’s 3rd Congressional District, which includes Boone, Callaway, Camden, Cole, Cooper, Gasconade, Jefferson, Maries, Miller, Montgomery, Moniteau, Osage, St. Charles, Warren and Washington counties.
I have been notified that a scammer is posing as me and requesting large sums of money from individuals on Facebook messenger. This is absolutely a scam; if you are contacted, please report it immediately: https://t.co/rmd5NS9pAL pic.twitter.com/5NMRB9fFtw
