RECAP: Mizzou’s Cody Schrader runs his way to SEC history
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Mizzou running back Cody Schrader ran all over CFP No. 14 Tennessee, on Saturday. The St. Louis native ran for 205 yards and a touchdown, while also adding on 116 receiving yards. That's a stat line that made him the only player in SEC history to register 200 yards rushing and 100 yards receiving in the same game.
The No. 13 Tigers improved to 8-2 with the program's first win over the Volunteers in four seasons.
The glory belonged to Schrader when the clock hit zero. His teammates lifted him up on their shoulders, while they and the crowd chanted his name. Schrader said that is the best moment, hands down, in his life.
His story has been inspiring people all season. He started out playing Division II football at Truman State, then walked on to the Mizzou football team and now is the leading SEC rusher in 2023.
“The whole recipe to this whole thing is work," Schrader said.
