Lawyer in attorney general’s office planning run for Boone County House seat
ASHLAND, Mo. (KMIZ) -
A lawyer in the Missouri Attorney General's Office is planning a run for the 44th House District's Republican nomination.
Bryce Beal, 25, filed paperwork with the Missouri Ethics Commission to run in the August 2024 primary. Beal works in the special litigation division in the state attorney general's office and lives in Ashland.
“I believe solutions should be at the forefront of every conversation we have," Beal said. "It’s easy to list of a laundry list of issues facing our families, state, and country– but real, thoughtful solutions are where I plan to stand out in this race. Preserving the American dream is more than just my campaign slogan– it’s the essence of my life’s work. ”
The winner of the November 2024 election will replace outgoing Rep. Cheri Toalson-Reisch (R-Hallsville) when she leaves due to term limits. Local businessman John Martin has also announced his intent to run for the GOP nomination for the seat that covers most of Boone County. Martin secured the party's nomination for the 47th District race in 2022, losing to Democratic candidate Adrian Plank. David Raithel plans to run again for the 44th District seat on the Democratic Party's ticket.
The district covers cities like Ashland, Hallsville, Centralia and Sturgeon.
Beal grew up in rural southern Illinois before coming to Missouri for school. He touted a family history in the area as a "fifth-generation mid-Missourian."
Beal described his work at the attorney general's office as "fighting the woke liberal agenda, including defending Missouri’s voter identification laws, protecting the unborn, and ensuring Missourians' Second Amendment Rights are protected." Beal is one of the attorneys defending the state in a challenge to its voter ID law filed by the Missouri NAACP.
Beal said he would support the education-related "Parents' Bill of Rights" and try to help "bring Missouri’s first rural charter school to Boone County.”
