Eight children suffer minor injuries after Phelps County R-3 school bus crash

PHELPS COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A bus driver and eight Phelps County R-3 students suffered minor injuries Thursday morning after a school bus crashed on Route M, about a mile west of Edgar Springs, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

Eight children, ages 4-12, and the bus driver – Judy Harris, 60, of Edgar Springs – suffered minor injuries in the crash. All were brought to Phelps Health in Rolla by private vehicles, according to the crash report.

The school district said on its Facebook page that the students had been reunited with parents.

According to the crash report, the bus was heading westbound on Route M when it went off the side of the road and hit a sign. The bus then returned to the road and went off the left side of the road and hit an embankment before stopping.

The school district's website says the school has students ranging from preschool-eighth grade.

The school district also said on its Facebook page that the school was without power until 12:25 p.m.
