Three die in Phelps County crash

ROLLA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Three people died Wednesday in a four-vehicle crash in Phelps County on Highway 63, just south of Highway 5170, according to a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Perry Patrick, 61, of Newburg, and two teenagers – 19-year-old Grace Gorman, of Rolla, and 18-year-old Michael Sutton, of Edgar Springs – were all pronounced dead at the scene by the Phelps County coroner.

Patrick and Gorman were brought to Gahr Funeral Home in Rolla and Patrick was brought to the Phelps County morgue, the report states.

Two children – a 16-year-old girl and 11-year-old boy -- suffered minor injuries in the crash and were brought to Phelps Health Medical Clinic and Hospital in Rolla by a private vehicle, the report states. Both were wearing seatbelts.

The crash occurred as a 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo – driven by Patrick – was heading northbound, crossed the centerline and hit the side of a 2007 GMC Yukon and then hit a 2007 Ford Focus head-on. The Ford Focus was driven by Gorman, and Sutton was her passenger. The Yukon was driven by a 16-year-old girl.

The impact caused the Chevy and Ford Focus to rotate, and a 2002 Ford F-150 driven by a 16-year-old boy. That impact caused the Chevy to go off the road, according to the report.

All four vehicles were totaled, according to the report.
