Tracking snow impacting travel on I-70 today
TODAY: An ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day is in effect today from 6 a.m. until 3 p.m. for snow falling near or along the I-70 corridor. Snow begins at 6 a.m. in Central MO and spreads along the highway through the morning. Snow rates could exceed 1" per hour, and a dry snow is expected, which could mean a lot of blowing snow on the roads. Slick spots will also be possible under the heaviest snow. Snow totals reach 2 to 4 inches along I-70 stretching from Marshall to St. Louis with snow amounts dropping to the north and south.
TOMORROW: A freeze sets in Sunday with lows in the upper teens and highs remaining near or below freezing.
EXTENDED: Dry and sunny weather is expected early next week but temperatures will still be well below average in the low to mid 30s each afternoon. Temperatures will then rebound by Wednesday afternoon, warming up into the low 50s, before cooler weather makes another return by the end of the week.
