COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A COVID-19 bivalent booster and flu vaccine clinic will be held 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the Roseta Avenue Center at 1100 S. Roseta Avenue in Columbia.

No appointments are needed, the Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services said Wednesday in a press release.

Updated/bivalent Pfizer booster doses will be available for those ages 5 years and older. Updated/bivalent Moderna booster doses will be available for those ages 12 and older. The updated booster is recommended as a single booster dose at least two months following a primary series or previous booster vaccination, according to a press release.

The boosters are called "bivalent" because they protect against both the original virus that causes COVID-19 and the Omicron variants BA.4 and BA.5.

COVID-19 vaccines through Public Health and Human Services are free and do not require ID or health insurance. Flu vaccines will also be provided free to those 6 months-64 years old. There will be no high dose flu vaccine (recommended for ages 65 and older) available at this clinic. Parental consent forms are required for anyone younger than 18 years old.
