MONITEAU COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A crash Tuesday afternoon on State Highway 5 in Moniteau County left two people hurt.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the crash about a half-mile south of Koechner Road around 5:15 p.m.

Troopers said a car driven by George M. Simon, 39, of Kansas City, Missouri, tried to pass another vehicle with oncoming traffic.

The car went off the side of the road and flipped over after hitting the driver's side of the second vehicle, according to the crash report.

Troopers said Simon's passenger, April J. Stillman, 31, of Kansas City, Missouri, was taken by ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries.

Crews also took Simon to the hospital with minor injuries. On Wednesday morning, a MU Health Care spokesman said Simon was treated and released from the facility.

The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash wasn't hurt.

Simon and Stillman were both wearing seat belts, according to the highway patrol.
