Mizzou football set to begin fall camp on Monday

The Mizzou football team will begin preparations for the 2022 season on Monday, as fall camp will kick off in the morning.

The Tigers, for the second year in a row, come into camp with a quarterback battle on their hands. Sophomore Brady Cook, redshirt freshman Tyler Macon, freshman Sam Horn, and seventh-year graduate student Jack Abraham will all compete for the starting spot.

"Decision making and leadership," quarterbacks coach Bush Hamdan said. "The game always comes down to decision making. Who is going to put our team in the best situations and who's gonna take the chances when the opportunity presents itself, who is going to take care of the football when they don't? Then there's the leadership thing. Ultimately you've got a group of 100 guys who are kind of looking at you and going like is this going to be the guy that's ready to lead us in good and bad times."

The wide receiving corps has been a big point of emphasis in the off season. Mizzou returned expereince starters in Barrett Banister and Tauskie Dove, but also has a slew of young talent including Luther Burden, Mookie Cooper, and Dominic Lovett.

The offensive line will bring back plenty of experience in 2022, as veterans Connor Wood and Javon Foster will both return for another season. You can watch interviews with lineman and running backs in the video players below.

On the defensive side, MU will begin preparations for the season with its third new coordinator in three seasons. Head coach Eli Drinkwitz hired Blake Baker in the off season, after former defensive coordinator Steve Wilks left for a job in the NFL.

The players said that Baker's scheme is reminiscent of what Wilks brought to Columbia.
