Sedalia man killed in motorcycle crash on Highway 50 in Johnson County

JOHNSON COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Sedalia man is dead after a motorcycle crash Thursday night on Highway 50 in Johnson County.

The crash happened around 9:15 p.m. in the westbound lanes of the highway near NE 501 Road, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Troopers said Ira J. Baldwin, 48, was thrown from the motorcycle after he crashed into the back of a pickup truck.

The acting Johnson County coroner pronounced Baldwin dead at the scene. Baldwin wasn't wearing a helmet, according to the crash report.

The driver of the truck, Ered N. Jackson, 41, of Warrensburg, was taken to Western Missouri Medical Center with moderate injuries.

Troopers said Jackson was wearing a seat belt.
