Data shows how many crashes have happened on Highway 42

MILLER COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ.)

After a crash in Miller County last night took the life of a 16-year-old, ABC 17 looked at how many crashes have happened on Highway 42.

Data from the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash reports shows that 98 people have been hurt in crashes and seven people have died on Highway 42 in Miller County since 2016.

Since 2016 there have been a total of 245 crashes on the highway.

Wednesday evening a 16-year-old girl lost her life after her car skid off the road and hit a fence and a tree on Highway 42 in Miller County. The teen died at the Lake Regional Hospital.

According to numbers from the state, most of the deaths on Highway 42 since 2016 happened in 2020.

Since 2016, Highway 42 has the most crashes in Miller County compared to other state highways.

Since January 2016, there have been 175 crashes on Highway 52 in Miller County. Online records indicate 58 people were hurt in those crashes and two died.

Data also shows since 2016 troopers investigated 170 crashes on Highway 17 in Miller County with 44 people were hurt and four died.

And according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol this is Troop F's first traffic death in May and there's a total of 26 for 2022.  

ABC 17 also tried reaching out to the Missouri State Highway Patrol and MODOT but neither was available to talk today.
