Man sentenced for his role in Columbia killing

MGN

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A judge sentenced a man Tuesday to four years in prison for his involvement in a deadly shooting in February.

Lucas Harper, 34, pleaded guilty to tampering with evidence in August in connection with the death of 33-year-old Maya Wooten.

According to online court records, Judge Jeff Harris sentenced Harper to four years, with credit for time served.

Wooten died days after being shot in the 200 block of Orchard Court in west Columbia. Police arrested Harper and Elizabeth Emily Dye, 25, after the shooting.

According to court documents, Dye was homeless and staying at the victim's home as a guest. Police said she shot at the victim at least three times before going through her things and stealing a rare coin.

Police said Harper helped hide the victim after the shooting.

Dye pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in September. A judge sentenced her to 20 years in prison.
