Local businesses react to shooting at Bagnell Dam Strip

LAKE OZARK, Mo. (KMIZ)

Business owners on the Bagnell Dam Strip say last night's shooting, is something they've never seen in their years at the lake.

This, after police, say one person was dead with another four injured following a Bike Night event on the strip.

Kim Smith, owner of Icehole on the strip says she previously worked as a bartender in a bikers bar for over 15 years and has never seen anything like Thursday night.

Smith, says in her time at the bar she's found bikers have been, "the most respectful group of men and women out there we're never these kinds of issues, this is new." Smith was on alert following the shooting, however, saying, "We're not allowing our female bartenders to be here alone anymore and just keeping an eye on what's going on."

Lori Jet, Owner of We're Talking T-Shirts said, "This is not something that we're used to although I think this is something that is happening everywhere. I don't think it's just The Lake of the Ozarks. I don't want folks to be afraid to come here after this happened, it's just more public because it is the lake."

Miriam Moreno, Owner of Lake Surf has worked and lived on the strip for the last 8 years and says she's never seen violence of this magnitude.

Moreno says she was fearful after being stuck in her business following the shooting, due to the close proximity to the crime scene.
