One dead after head-on crash with tractor in Callaway County

CALLAWAY COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Fulton man was killed in a Callaway County crash involving a tractor at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol crash reports, a 16-year-old was driving a tractor westbound on County Road 228 almost a mile east of County Road 257 when he crossed into the center of the road.

The tractor hit an oncoming pickup truck, causing the truck to drive off the right side of the road and crash into two mailboxes. The driver of the pickup truck, 47-year-old Darrell Fischer, died at the scene.

Troopers said Fischer was not wearing a seatbelt.

The teenage driver, who has not been identified due to his age, was not injured in the crash.
