Columbia man charged with arson with family inside home

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A man has been charged after a fire in Columbia.

Police arrested 28-year-old Seth Vaughn early Sunday morning at a home in the 2000 block of Ammonette street.

Vaughn could appear at a court hearing scheduled on Wednesday afternoon.

According to court documents, Vaughn set stuff on fire in the kitchen of the home because he thought he heard mice after smoking meth.

A woman and two children were able to safely get out of the home.

Vaughn is charged with second-degree arson, endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.

Vaughn's bond is set at $50,000 cash/surety.
