Helias standout signs as preferred walk-on for Mizzou football

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Helias standout Damon Johanns signed to play football at Mizzou on Wednesday as a preferred walk-on.

The 6'4" tight end said he had other scholarship offers, but it's always been his dream to go to Mizzou.

Fellow Helias senior Dylan Kopp also signed to play college football on Wednesday. He'll be attending Benedictine College.

Back to Mizzou - The Tigers made only two other additions on Wednesday. Three-star BJ Harris signed with the Tigers. He's a 5'10" running back from Chattanooga, Tenn. Also, Rice transfer linebacker Blaze Alldredge made it official with Mizzou.

MU signed the majority of its class on the early signing day. Head coach Eli Drinkwitz's 2021 class is ranked No. 21 in the nation, according to Rivals. That's tied with Mizzou's 2010 class for the highest ranked recruiting class in program history.

Many more local athletes also signed to play college football on Wednesday.
