Columbia woman arrested after allegedly assaulting a person with brick, kicking an officer

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia woman is arrested Tuesday for assault after allegedly hitting someone in the face with a brick and kicking an officer in the groin.

According to court documents, Zariah Gilmore, 18, threatened the victim by claiming she would hit the victim with a brick. The victim told police that she ran but Gilmore then hit her in the face with a brick.

Columbia Police got video surveillance of the incident during the investigation and the officer says that Gilmore threw the brick at the victim's face according to court documents.

The victim reportedly needed stitches for a large cut on her forehead.

As police were taking Gilmore into custody, Gilmore kicked an officer in the groin according to court documents.

Gilmore is charged with 2nd-degree assault, 3rd-degree assault, armed criminal action and resisting arrest for a felony.

Online records indicate Gilmore has a $50,000 cash or surety bond.

Gilmore has a docket hearing scheduled for next Wednesday and a case review for Jan. 13.
