UPDATE: California, Mo. kidnapping suspect in custody

UPDATE 5:59 P.M.: Moniteau County Sheriff's Department is reporting Christopher Winter is in custody.

CALIFORNIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Moniteau County Sheriff's Department and California, Mo. Police are looking for a fugitive after the California Police responded to an attempted kidnapping at the Eagles Club in California.

During the investigation, officials identified the suspect as Christopher Winter but he already had fled the scene.

Winter is currently on probation and parole forcing him to wear the GPS ankle monitoring pending a court case.

According to the sheriff's department, Winter cut his ankle monitor off after the incident.

According to court documents, Winter is charged with:

  • Kidnapping- 1st Degree- Class B Felony
  • Tampering with a Witness- Class D Felony
  • Tampering with an Electronic Monitoring System- Class D Felony
  • Domestic Assault 3rd Degree- Class E Felony

According to the department's Facebook post anyone aiding Christopher, by any means will be charged too.
