Large law enforcement presence in Boone County

BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Multiple mid-Missouri law enforcement agencies are on scene investigating an incident west of Columbia.

Jeff Pitts, public information officer for Columbia Police, said the incident started as a vehicle chase and ended on Nebo Cemetery Road in Boone County.

Authorities are currently searching the area of Nebo Cemetery Road, near Highway UU. MUPD, Boone County Sheriff Deputies, Columbia Police and Missouri State Highway Patrol are all assisting in this investigation.

A helicopter has been circling the area.

Authorities have not been able to confirm what they are investigating. ABC 17 crews have been in the area since 1 a.m. Thursday. We will update you on this developing story.
