JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Cole County Western Commissioner Kris Scheperle announced on his Facebook page that he plans to run to keep his seat on the county's governing body.

The post on Friday said Scheperle has fulfilled promises he made when he ran for office in 2008 and 2012. It shows the commission saved or generated $15.3 million of taxpayer money since 2012.

Scheperle added under his leadership no new taxes have been implemented and he will continue to support small businesses.

"I will continue to spend your money wisely and I ask for your support," Scheperle said.

Two others have filed to run for the same commissioner seat. Gary Bemboom and Harry Otto both filed on Wednesday as Republicans.

The Cole County Primary Election is scheduled for Aug. 4. The last day to register to vote is July 8.
