THURSDAY UPDATES: Callaway County Missouri Health Department warns about COVID-19 vaccine survey fraud
Callaway County Missouri Health Department is warning residents about a vaccine survey that is luring residents to give them their credit card information.
The department says no health department would ask for a payment/credit card information.
This vaccine is being offered for free.
The health department says the only way to access their COVID survey is on their website, the link on our Facebook site, calling the health department and they get your information, or coming into CCHD and completing a paper copy.
Two Mid-Missouri counties reporting COVID-19 related deaths
Chariton and Randolph County are each reporting a COVID-19 related death in their respective counties.
According to the Chariton County Health Center, one county resident has died of COVID-19. This is the third death this month and 18th overall since the first death was reported on Nov. 13.
The health center reports the county has 48 active cases and has a total of 776 coronavirus cases since the pandemic started.
The county has reported 710 resident recoveries.
In Randolph County, the health department is reporting one COVID-19 related death. This is the 30th COVID-19 related death since July 16.
The county is reporting 57 active cases and a total of 1,899 total cases.
There are currently nine residents hospitalized due to the coronavirus.
The county has reported 1,812 residential recoveries.
Cooper County receives coronavirus vaccine doses; Osage County still waiting
The Cooper County Public Health Center is reporting they received 250 doses of the coronavirus vaccine from Boone Hospital Wednesday.
The doses are for Tier 1A - healthcare providers and emergency service providers.
The health center is working off of a predetermined list of providers/responders. The health center has already provided 80 doses within the first hour and 28 doses within the second hour.
The health center will also being givingshots on Friday as scheduled.
Officials say that at this time there are no extra doses for the general public. Our vaccine order with the government is still in place. We are making every effort to get vaccine into Cooper County.
In Osage County, the health department reports that they still do not have the coroanvirus vaccine.
Officials say to call your primary care provider to inquire if they have vaccine available to administer to you.
Boone County reports largest COVID-19 daily increase in last two weeks
Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services is reporting 146 new COVID-19 cases. The last time the daily increase reached over 140 cases was Jan. 7.
The dashboard is currently reporting 780 active cases, a 78 case increase from Wednesday.
The county now has a reported total number of COVID-19 cases of 15,946.
The county has reported the total number of cases removed from isolation is 15,099, a 68 case increase from Tuesday.
Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services dashboard has reported the latest five-day average as 90.
The dashboard is reporting the positivity rate of 29.1% for Jan. 8 through last Thursday.
The health department is reporting the total number of hospitalizations in Boone County is 80, a six case drop from Wednesday.
The number of Boone County residents hospitalized is reported to be 30.
The dashboard is reporting 23 COVID-19 patients in the ICU and 12 patients on ventilators.
The hospital status is still currently in the 'yellow' zone.
Missouri reports 2,000 more COVID-19 cases
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services reported a little more than 2,000 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday.
Health officials say 443,838 Missourians have tested positive for COVID-19 since the pandemic started. It's an increase of 2,049 from the day before. It also marks the largest daily increase since Friday's 2,231.
Daily increases have dropped off after weekly case averages were reported in the 2,000s at the beginning of the month. The daily case average over the week ending on Monday was reported at 1,594.
The health department dashboard reported 24 new virus-related deaths as well -- bringing the state total up to 6,485.
Missouri's seven-day coronavirus positivity fell slightly to 12.1%.
The state ranked in the bottom half of the country for new COVID-19 cases and deaths over the last week, according to the dashboard. Missouri reported 11,155 new coronavirus cases over the last week -- landing the state at 26th in the nation. The Show-Me State also ranked 32nd for its weekly COVID-19 death increase -- 58.
State hospital officials said 2,367 were hospitalized and 509 were in the ICU because of COVID-19.
