TUESDAY UPDATES: Boone County gains 34 COVID-19 cases
UPDATE 9:15 P.M.: Boone County reported an additional 34 cases Tuesday.
According to Columbia's website, there are now a total of 547 cases in the county. Of those cases, 190 are active.
Health officials say 355 people have been released from isolation.
According to the city's dashboard a total of 21 Boone County residents have been hospitalized with COVID-19. Of those 21 people, seven are currently hospitalized.
UPDATE 6:30 P.M.: Camden County health officials reported another death related to COVID-19 on Tuesday.
According to a Facebook post, the person died of complications believed to be related to the virus. The department said it would not provide any more information about the death.
This is the county's second coronavirus-related death. As of 4 p.m., the county said it has seen a total of 80 cases, 11 of which are active.
UPDATE 2:30 P.M.: Missouri set a new record for daily COVID-19 case increases on Tuesday. The increase broke the two-week-old record by more than 200.
The state health department said 24,629 have tested positive for coronavirus, up by 773 from Monday.
Health workers said COVID-19 deaths increased by 14 from Monday, reaching 1,042 total deaths.
A health department tweet said the record increase was caused by a staffing shortage over the weekend, as well as, delays in reporting.
The previous record case increase was set at 553 on June 25. Health workers said reporting delays also caused that spike in cases.
According to health department data, 5.4% of patients tested had confirmed cases of COVID-19. Official data said more than 435,000 people have been tested in the state.
The health department's website said COVID-19 cases increased by 8.3% over the last week. At least 3,078 more people have tested positive since June 30.
The website included people between the ages of 20-29 accounted for 18.7% of statewide coronavirus cases. The 20-24 and 25-29 age ranges account for the two highest concentrations of COVID-19 cases, according to state data.
ORIGINAL: The Cole County Health Department said Monday total COVID-19 cases reached 91.
Total coronavirus cases were up by 12 since the health department's website was updated on Thursday.
According to county health data, 16 people actively have coronavirus, 73 have recovered and two have died.
Health department spokeswoman Chezney Schulte said people who tested positive were contacted and notified to quarantine.
Cole County has added at least 30 coronavirus cases over the last two weeks, according to health data.
County health workers along with the state health department and the Missouri National Guard started a community testing event in Jefferson City Tuesday morning. Missouri residents can get tested for free at the event between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. each day through Thursday.
