COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

More than 1,000 Columbia Water and Light electric customers were without power temporarily Wednesday morning and hundreds of Boone Electric members later lost power.

Nearly 300 cooperative members in eastern Boone County near Harrisburg were without power at about 11:45 a.m., according to the utility's online outage map. Boone said in a social media message that crews were working to restore power in the Woodlandville area.

The power was restored a short time later.

Columbia's outage originated along Grindstone Parkway. Most of the power had been restored by about 11 a.m.

Boone County emergency dispatchers warned that the city outage had taken power out at stop lights in the Grindstone and Rock Quarry Road area.

The outage came as rain with some lightning moved through the area. A Water and Light spokesman said the outage was weather-related.

More information was not immediately available.
